Between the release of drama Knight of Cups and documentary Voyage of Time, Terrence Malik kept up a tight busy schedule in 2016. The Oscar-nominated director will continue his streak early into the new year with Song to Song. In the works for the last few years under the name Weightless, the film has been retitled and given an official storyline. Additionally, the very first still from the film has also been shared up above.

Due out through Broad Green Pictures on March 17th, its synopsis (via IndieWire) reads: “In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.” The cast also includes Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Val Kilmer, Cate Blanchett, and Benicio Del Toro.

To complement Song to Song’s musical backdrop, a number of actual musicians are expected to make cameos, including Patti Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine, and Lykke Li. Filming took on location at Austin City Limits in November 2012.
