Natalie Portman looks like the First Lady of awards season in new trailer for Jackie — watch

Natalie Portman has been keeping a relatively low profile in recent years, but her latest leading role is shaping up to be a stunner from the looks of the trailer.

Pablo Larraín‘s forthcoming biographical drama Jackie stars Portman as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, a woman thrust into the nation’s spotlight and forced to contend with controversy and unspeakable tragedy as the wife of John F. Kennedy.

The film’s trailer is as visually stunning as a political biopic can get; the opening scene of Kennedy staring out of her limousine at a crowd of onlookers tells an entire story in the span of five seconds, and a closing shot of the First Lady with a small smear of blood on her pink blouse is similarly jarring.

Jackie is written by Noah Oppenheim and costars Greta Gerwig, Peter Sarsgaard, Max Casella, Beth Grant, Billy Crudup, Richard E. Grant, and John Hurt. It opens in select theaters December 2nd.
