Tame Impala’s “Eventually” syncs up perfectly with 2001: A Space Odyssey

When listening to Tame Impala’s stellar album Currents, one often feels like they’ve been transported to another time and planet, the synth-led psych rock stylings acting as something of a window into an alternate universe.

It’s no surprise, then, that Kevin Parker’s arrangements would sync up perfectly with 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick’s futuristic flick about artificial intelligence and extraterrestrial life.

One clever person went ahead and spliced the Currents track “Eventually” into the film’s final act, and the results are beyond perfect. The song’s inherent ache gives the 2001 scenes an even greater sentimental — and trippy — feel.
