Elle King shares catchy “Good Girls” single off Ghostbusters soundtrack — listen

Back in 1984, the soundtrack to Ivan Reitman’s Ghostbusters was a blockbuster in itself. Although it was stuffed with inclusions by The BusBoys, Air Supply, Laura Branigan, Thompson Twins, and, of course, Mick Smiley, it was Ray Parker, Jr.’s iconic titular track that fueled its success, slotting at No. 1 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and garnering an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song the following year. Huey Lewis totally loved it.

That’s probably not going to happen with this summer’s remake, Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, but Sony has nonetheless put together a star-studded soundtrack and they believe it’s magic, magic, magic. Sadly, there isn’t an EDM cover of the Alessi Brothers’ “Savin’ the Day”, but there is a motley crew of modern jukebox heroes and villains, specifically Elle KingFall Out Boy featuring Missy Elliott (covering Ray Parker, Jr.’s theme, no less), Wolf AliceG-Eazy featuring Jeremih, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pentatonix, WALK THE MOON, and more.

To drum up excitement, they’ve crossed the streams and unleashed King’s new single, “Good Girls”. Much like her past earworms, namely last year’s throwback jingle “Ex’s and Oh’s”, this sucker’s fucking nuclear, wired with dozens of hooks and made urgent by scandalous lyrics that go hand in hand with the majority of today’s nihilistic pop. “Since I’m gonna go to hell anyway/ I’m going with a bang bang bang,” she sings, and you can just hear the beaches erupt.

Check out the track above and grab the soundtrack the day the film hits theaters: July 15th.
