Sia shares new song “Cheap Thrills”, originally written for Rihanna — listen

on December 17, 2015, 9:55am

On January 29th, Sia will return with This Is Acting, an LP comprised of 12 tracks she’d originally written for other pop artists such as Adele, Beyoncé, and Rihanna. Today, the follow-up to last year’s impressive 1000 Forms of Fear is previewed with a number titled “Cheap Thrills”.

While This Is Acting lead single “Alive” was intended for Adele, this latest selection had been penned with Rihanna in mind, and it shows. “Cheap Thrills” sways confidently atop island rhythms and the chorus is a cool anthem about living it up low-key: “I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight.” (Consider it something of an antithesis of “Bitch Better Have My Money”.)
