Don’t want remakes of The Exorcist, Ace Ventura, and Major League? Tough shit

Get ready to slap your forehead and shake your head in shame: Incredibly unnecessary remakes of The Exorcist, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and Major League are on the way.

According to Deadline, Morgan Creek Productions, whose logo infamously used Michael Kamen’s rousing score for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, has hired an investment banking group to shill out the rights to its library of 78 films, with the intention of raising capital for these projects.

“I’m selling the library strictly for economic reasons,” Morgan Creek CEO Jim Robinson explained, likely after speaking with the Devil. “It will go back into the company to fund more production. We have a number of properties that we are looking to move forward on.”

The previously named three are among those already stepping up to the plate, pun obviously intended. Yet this also means we could see re-imaginings of Tony Scott’s True Romance, or Michael Mann’s The Last of Mohicans, whose remake rights will also be retained by Morgan Creek.

Well, at the very least, Blake Goble has a few new ideas for his Remake This! column.
