That son of a bitch Cujo is back for a ridiculous reboot

on July 06, 2015, 9:13pm

In Stephen King’s most terrifying novel Pet Sematary, Jud Crandall warns his new neighbor Louis Creed that “dead is better.” Of course, that cautionary line is absolutely lost on Hollywood, a monster in itself that continues to jump up and down on gravestones, throwing money around like an asshole version of Jack Nicholson’s Joker. As such, even the little guys feel the need to follow suit, which is why Sunn Classic Pictures and veteran producer and director Mr. Lang Elliott are digging up the bones of King’s other horrific story, Cujo.

Yep, those still rattled by Lewis Teague’s 1983 silver screen adaptation, which starred E.T. mother Dee Wallace Stone and featured one of the most ridiculous freeze frame endings of that freeze frame-loving decade, will be glad to know that everyone’s favorite rabies-riddled St. Bernard is back to lick its devilish chops. This time around, the film’s gonna be called C.U.J.O., which stands for “Canine Unit Joint Operations,” as Bloody Disgusting reports.

Odds are the latest reimagining will incorporate the pesky military and likely comment on why it’s not fair for our boys in green and blue to turn our favorite pooches into canine killers. Elliott will direct the film, which will star B-movie actor, filmmaker, and producer DJ Perry (Ashes of Eden) in an unspecified role. This writer isn’t the betting type but he’s willing to double down and say that Perry likely will not be playing the titular slobber monster.

No idea when this one hits Netflix, but here’s the original film’s trailer.
