This year during South by Southwest, Consequence of Sound teamed with Jukely and Tito’s Handmade Vodka to bring Off the Avenue to Austin. We invited nearly 30 bands to visit our special 5th Street Studios setup and film exclusive sessions.
This week’s first episode features Mini Mansions, the indie pop trio made of Zach Dawes, Tyler Parkford, and Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman. The group performed a pair of tracks off their recent sophomore LP, The Great Pretenders. First came a rendition of album opener “Freakout!”, followed by the hit single “Vertigo”. Even without Arctic Monkey’s Alex Turner there to take vocals on the latter song, the band proved they don’t need outside help to deliver a killer performance. Check out both videos below.
Revisit our past SXSW OTA sessions with The Zombies, The Districts, Mew, San Fermin, Rubblebucket, Public Service Broadcasting, The Vaccines, Kopecky, Kevin Devine,Diarrhea Planet, Doomtree, Monster Rally & Jay Stone, Krill, The Stone Foxes, ADVAETA, Yumi Zouma, Milo Greene, Turbo Fruits, and Wilsen. Stay tuned for more from Torres, Hollis Brown, and others. You can also still dig deep into all the other past Off the Avenue sessions here.
