Riot Fest Chicago moves to new location for 2015

on May 20, 2015, 9:45am

The 2015 edition of Riot Fest will not take place at its longtime home of Humboldt Park. Following a contentious battle with the residents of the district, festival organizers sought to re-locate to a new location, which they announced today. The 11th installment of Riot Fest will take place at Douglas Park during the weekend of September 11th – 13th.

Several members of the community were upset over the state of Humboldt Park following the 2014 festival, leading Alderman Roberto Maldonado to pull his support for a return in 2015. Riot Fest organizers contended they fully paid off the $188,000 in park damages and promised to be more proactive in repairing issues with the park going forward. Nevertheless, the two sides were unable to reach an understanding that would have allowed Riot Fest to return to Humboldt Park.

Additional details regarding Riot Fest’s 2015 installment, including a lineup and ticketing details, are still forthcoming.
