Unknown Mortal Orchestra shares new video for “Multi-Love” — watch

on March 25, 2015, 11:00am

Unknown Mortal Orchestra has revealed a music video for “Multi-Love”, the latest single off the band’s forthcoming album of the same name. Echoing the track’s soulful, psychedelic undertones, the clip is an exercise in kaleidoscopic hypnotics — full of vibrant, seemingly shapeless objects that blur, twist, and even disappear at a moment’s notice. Watch below.

In a press release, director Lionel Williams explained the abstract visual, saying:

“It is meant to represent the vacuum of space by impressing upon inter-dimensional unfolding, immaterial objects, and time-driven reverberation of events. The virtual space allows for most 3D objects to trail in time – based on the directions one moves. You can construct & paint the objects in space to stretch them in any direction, to create infinitely vast compositional spaces.”

To coincide with the video, UMO has also released an interactive app version, which can be downloaded here.

Multi-Love the album is due out on May 26th via Jagjaguwar. In support, the band’s added a new batch of summer dates in the US and Europe.
