As far as funny casts go, director Sophie Goodhart just nabbed herself a real doozy. Deadline reports that Parks and Recreation cast member Adam Scott, Kroll Show mastermind Nick Kroll, and Obvious Child star Jenny Slate have all signed on to star in My Blind Brother.
In the film, which was first made as a short in 2003, Scott will play a handsome ladies man and athlete who happens to be blind, while Kroll will play his sighted brother, who helps Scott’s character see his way through life. Slate will throw a wrench into the relationship as a woman who both brothers fall for.
This entire premise and cast is everything a comedy fan could hope for. Adam Scott just finished playing Ben Wyatt on P&R, a character who arguably could not be less athletic, so he’s an interesting choice for the blind star athlete. Kroll excels playing characters, but in the second banana role he’ll surely shine just as much. Jenny Slate is just the best, and deserves all the success in the world after her star-making performance in Obvious Child and excelling on a number of television shows like Kroll Show, Married, and Bob’s Burgers.
Production on the film will start in May in Ohio.
