Legendary songwriter David Crosby opined on a number of musicians during a Twitter Q&A this week. While the Crosby Stills & Nash member is a fan of Nick Drake, Mumford & Sons, and Paul McCartney, and is also open to collaborating with Fleet Foxes, his opinions of four other artists are not so high.
Crosby called Kanye West “an idiot and poser” who “has no talent at all.” Responding to a tweet about Phish being “pretty awesome,” Crosby replied back, “Sorry … I don’t agree.” (He later couched his comments, saying he hadn’t listened to them live and was a “grump” when he made the comment.)
And while he described The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson with adjectives like “innocent, brilliant, and inspiring,” Crosby isn’t as fond of Wilson’s former bandmate, Mike Love. “Have not … Would not … Not a good person” Crosby responded when asked if he would ever collaborated with Love.
Even Jim Morrison came under Crosby’s crosshairs. He described The Doors as a band with “no groove” who “never swung at all,” and said he would have no interest in collaborating with Morrison if he were still living today.
One artist Crosby failed to address? His own former bandmate, Neil Young, who recently faulted Crosby for the demise of Crosby Stills Nash & Young.
