Prior to joining Nirvana, Dave Grohl drummed for DC-based hardcore punk outfit Scream. He was just 17 years old when he auditioned for the band and eventually dropped out of high school after landing the gig. He would remain a member for four years, touring the globe and performing on a pair of albums. Eventually he caught the attention of Melvins’ Buzz Osbourne, who introduced Grohl to Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic.
Now a member of Foo Fighters, Grohl recently finished up an Australian leg of tour dates in support of the band’s latest album, Sonic Highways. Rise Against opened Foo’s show in Adelaide and invited Grohl to perform drums on a cover of Scream’s “Came Without Warning”.
