Jimmy Fallon masterfully recreates The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air opening — watch

on February 03, 2015, 10:45am

Aside from a recent photo opp on Dancing with the Stars, the closest the world’s gotten to a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion came via a Will Smith-Alfonso Ribeiro dance party in 2013. On Monday evening, however, television land got the very next best thing: a masterful, shot-for-shot remake of the show’s opening from the king of goofy tributes, Jimmy Fallon.

The homage coincided with The Tonight Show’s week-long stay in Los Angeles, and what better way to depart New York’s frozen sidewalks than a ride in Fresh Prince’s magic yellow cab (driven by DJ Jazzy Jeff, of course). Along the way, Fallon goes for a spin in the show’s oh-so dope golden throne, plays a little indoor hoops with The Roots, and busts out The Carlton alongside Ribeiro and Questlove. All in all, Fallon nails the wondrous ’90s kitsch that is the show’s intro, so toss on your crooked neon cap and watch along below.
