“Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer leaks, causes worldwide nerdgasm — watch

on October 22, 2014, 8:48pm

Less than 24 hours after Marvel announced that they’d be premiering the trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron following next week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the whole thing has leaked online. Let the nerdgasms commence.

Our first taste of Joss Whedon’s superhero team sequel presents a much darker tone than its predecessor. Over a creepy rendition of “I’ve Got No String” from Pinocchio, we see images of Captain America’s shield shattered, Thor’s hammer dropping, and a very defeated looking Tony Stark. We also get a first look at newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in action (outsider of the Winter Solider stinger, that is), as well as a spine-chilling introduction to James Spader’s villainous Ultron. Oh, and there’s a freakin’ Hulk-Buster armor. Watch below.

Update: Marvel has released the official, high-quality version of the trailer, as well as the teaser poster. See both below

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits US theaters May 1st. Whedon returns to direct the talents of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Paul Bettany, and Hayley Atwell.

Marvel had this to say about the leak:
