Watch: Real Estate cover The Cranberries’ “Linger”

on August 19, 2014, 12:22pm

Earlier this month we saw Real Estate pay tribute to Jerry Garcia by tackling Grateful Dead’s “He’s Gone” live in San Francisco. Now, the New Jersey outfit returns with another cover, this time honoring the ’90s with a cover of The Cranberries’ 1993 hit “Linger”.

While the original itself was already steeped in a dreamy languor, Real Estate’s version feels 10x more trance-like, as it slithers along at a snail’s pace and comes blanketed in a woolly haze. Watch it below (via A.V. Club).

Real Estate’s “Linger” cover is just the latest in A.V. Club’s Undercover series. For more, check out Eagulls taking on The Stone Roses, Wye Oak paying homage to Kate Bush, and The Men tackling Devo.
