The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie and The Sadies announce collaborative LP, stream “Craters”

on February 27, 2014, 5:10pm

Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun may sound like the bill for an upcoming SXSW showcase, but it’s actually a new collaboration between The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie and alt-country compatriots The Sadies. They’ve had a joint effort in the works for years, and it will finally come to fruition with the release of their self-titled debut on April 15th via Arts & Crafts.

Though their name is a bit involved, the group’s single “Crater” is straightforward bar rock. Combining punk energy with a tinge of roots-minded twang, it’s a rollicking first taste of what can happen when these guys join forces. Listen in below.
