The Modernized Holiday Song Tweet-Off

on December 20, 2013, 3:15pm

Get out of your comfort zone this holiday season with Heineken’s “Carol Karaoke”. This social experiment saw unsuspecting revelers invited to sing a carol karaoke song to a crowd of strangers. Those who decided to puck up the courage were broadcasted in well-known places, including the Jumbotron at an NBA game, and on every TV in a NYC taxi for a week.  We’ve already discussed the Ultimate “Carol Karaoke” Playlist, and reviewed the the “Do’s and Don’ts” of Karaoke. But enough about us. Now we want to hear from you!

The Yuletide season is the perfect time of year for you creative types to march to the beat of your own little drummer boy. With such a large arsenal of classic holiday songs to choose from, we thought it would be fun to re-invent and re-work those lyrics to reflect some of the biggest pop culture and musical events of 2013. That’s why we’re launching the “Modernized Holiday Song Tweet-Off.”

Here’s how it works: Tweet your favorite holiday classics with updated titles and lyrics, like these:

— “Wreck the Balls with Boughs of Miley”

— “O Little Town of BethleHAIM”

— “I’m Scheming for a Walter White Christmas”

— “Carol of the Belles & Sebastian”

— “Auld Lang Grimes”

— “Chestnuts Roasting on an Arcade Fire”

— “Rudolph the Orange-is-the-New-Black-nosed Reindeer”

—  “10 Lordes a’ Leaping”

— “Once in Royal David Bowie’s City”

— “We Three Kings of Leon”

Get it? Now it’s your turn. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #CarolKaraoke because on Monday, December 23rd, CoS will post the funniest and most clever tweets right here for all to see. Remember, the greatest gift of all is bragging rights. Must be 21+ or older to participate.
