Either guys in animal suits are really in right now or Columbia Pictures is doing quite possibly the most expansive and intricate marketing campaign for the upcoming DVD of the Zookeeper, well, ever. The new video for “Even If I Don’t” from soulful songstress Rachael Yamagata may not feature the voice of Sylvester Stallone in a supporting role but it does contain, you guessed it, even more animal apparel tomfoolery.
The video tells the history of a wacky relationship between a tiger and a bunny, starting with the wide-eyed purity of the engagement’s beginnings before steering down the path we all know too well. Yamagata recently discussed with Spinner on how the unconventional romance and video came about. “I wanted to stray from the traditional way to tell a relationship story and yet still reference the bittersweet nature of a pair that falls in love, but must split for their very natures are at odds with one another.” So, think of it as a four minute and twelve second and much more furry version of Annie Hall. Watch the playful video below.
Rachael’s new LP Chesapeake is due out October 11 via Frakenfish Records. Also, check out “Starlight”, the first video from the album and a list of dates for her extensive Fall tour.
