Alkaline Trio have Damnesia, shake it off with a summer tour…

on May 11, 2011, 4:57pm

Alkaline Trio turn 15 this year, and they’re celebrating in style. The Illinois pop punk heroes have announced plans for both a new album and summer tour.

Due for release on July 12th via Epitaph/Heart & Skull, Damnesia marks a more adventurous approach for the pop punk veterans. Instead of sporting a fresh, new tracklist, the forthcoming release will rework past fan favorites, include a cover of the Violent Femmes’ “I Held Her In My Arms”, and toss in two new cuts titled “Olde English 800” and “I Remember A Rooftop”. So, it’s sort of like a greatest hits package, but not…

To celebrate the release, and blow out the proverbial 15 candles, the Trio will kick off the tour with a spot at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 9th before heading out west. Fans in San Francisco should appreciate the two-night residency, where they’ll play Slims on the 16th and Bottom of the Hill the following night. No love for Chicago yet, however. Check out the inital tour dates below.
