Check Out: Christina Aguilera + Le Tigre – “I Hate Boys”

on May 18, 2010, 10:25am

UPDATE: Le Tigre is not, as originally reported, responsible for either the production of this song or the shouted vocals in the bridge. Thanks to readers Will Jones and William David Tyler and The Village Voice for setting the story straight. Sorry!

It was impossible to not have been at least a little curious when word got out about Christina Aguilera working with a bunch of dance and electro acts for her new album Bionic, including Goldfrapp, M.I.A., Santigold, and Le Tigre. Consider your curiosity partially whetted, because the Le Tigre collaboration “I Hate Boys” is now partially available on YouTube for all to hear (via TwentyFourBit).

It’s only a two-minute clip of the song, but includes a trademark Kathleen Hanna shouting bridge. Sony has been axing almost every clip on YouTube, but there’s a 30-second sample below. Surely, Xtinaholics will soon overload the Internet with the song, so be patient. The song doesn’t seem like much yet, but the full version could very well be hit-worthy. Even so, this track isn’t going to do much to shake the Gaga comparisons commanded by first single “Not Myself Tonight” — it’s surreal watching former pop princesses like Aguilera and Britney Spears go out of their way to top the newcomer’s hip electro-pop sound.

Of course, if you’re into the new sound, you can go out of your way to see Aguilera on her upcoming U.S. amphitheatre tour supporting the album. Check out the dates below as well as the “I Hate Boys” clip.

Oh, and if you’re the type of person who couldn’t give two shits about Christina and are just desperate for Le Tigre news, you probably already know this, but Hanna posted on her blog that she has been working on a new Le Tigre concert DVD.
