Christina Aguilera reveals Bionic due date, readies release of first single

on March 26, 2010, 2:22pm

Like you, the thought of Le Tigre and Christina Aguilera working together on the latter’s new album Bionic got us ready to be amazed and abandon all cynicism (most of it at least). But we wanted more, something real and tangible to love regarding an album that also features M.I.A., Sia, Ladytron, Tricky Stewart, and writing by Linda Perry. Well, desire no longer as Xtina has graced us with a release date (June 8th) and, more importantly, a taste of the album’s lead single, “Not Myself Tonight”.

Despite selling over 30 million records worldwide and being a pretty established star, Aguilera said the choices for collaborations let her add something her other records might have been lacking.

“Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience,” said Aguilera on a statement from her official site. “The artists I chose to work with added so many unique song layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic.”

And, according to Aguilera, that’s a sound that is seeping with dichotomy.

“I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective,” Aguilera added. “I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don’t think anyone will expect.“

So, (kind of) judge for yourself with an 18-second sample of the single below. The full song will be available on Aguilera’s official site on March 30th and hits U.S. radio on April 5th.

Bionic is due out June 8th via RCA.  More details as they become available.
